The Tottenham forward, Son Heung-min, has assured the fans that he will not miss the Korean national team in the World Cup in Qatar. The player suffered a fracture in his left eye, in Tottenham's challenge against Marseille valid for the Champions League. The injury did not appear to be a concern at first, but after the player underwent surgery, the sports media in England questioned his activation with South Korea at the World Cup.
However, Son himself has reassured the fans through a message on the Instagram social network. The attacker said:
"I wouldn't miss this (World Cup) for anything. I am looking forward to representing our beautiful country. I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for the messages of support I've received this week. I have read so many of them, and I really appreciate them all. In a very difficult time, I received a lot of support from you. To play for your country in the World Cup is a dream of many children, it was the same for me."
Qatar's World Cup will start on November 20, while South Korea will play its first match on November 24, against Uruguay. Son has scored just 5 goals in 19 games this season for Tottenham. However, the striker remains one of the most important players in Antonio Conte's team. The Italian technician also commented on Son's injury, saying that he is confident that the player will be active in the World Cup. Conte said:
“I sent him (Son) a message after the operation and Sonny was really upset about the situation, but hopefully he will recover well and play in the World Cup. I'm sure, sure, he can come back soon for South Korea in Qatar."
