The coach of Manchester United, Erik ten Hag, has commented on the heavy loss that the "Red Devils" suffered from Brentford, in the second week of the Premier League. United were beaten 4-0 conceding all the goals in the first 35 minutes of the game, an absolutely unacceptable display by the club's standard. The Dutch technician gave his impressions at the end of the meeting, hinting that the team needs deep changes:
"We have to show a higher standard than what we witnessed today. We are in a difficult process as a team. We expected a different start and not this one. We need new players. We need quality players. We are working on this and will do everything possible to convince them to come."
Manchester United have been involved in a lengthy recruitment process for new players as the club look to return to the Premier League's elite ranks and put negative performances behind them.
Ten Hag added:
"The team must take responsibility. I'm so sorry for the fans, they did everything to support us and we let them down. On the field you have to take responsibility as an individual but also as a team, and that's what we didn't do. What I asked them to do is play with confidence and take responsibility for the performance. We have to work on this. The coach also has responsibilities. He has the main responsibility and I will work on this."
United have already lost 4 consecutive matches in the Premier League, including the end of the season we left behind. On the other hand, the "Red Devils" have not secured any victory in 7 meetings, as they are in the last place in the championship standings.
