Leo Messi has apologized to his teammates at PSG, for the unauthorized trip by the club to Saudi Arabia. The Argentinian was suspended for two weeks by PSG due to this trip, while many media outlets have reported that Messi will leave Paris at the end of the season and there will be no contract renewal. The superstar reacted for the first time after being suspended by the club, saying:
"I'm sorry for what I did and I'm waiting for the club to make a decision. I honestly thought we would have the day off after the game, as has happened in previous weeks. I had arranged the trip to Saudi Arabia after canceling it once. This time I couldn't cancel it."
The coach of PSG, Christophe Galtier, said that he had nothing to do with the decision to suspend Leo Messi. Galtier also condemned fan protests near the players' homes. The Frenchman commented:
"Leo's suspension is another factor in our poor performances as a team, but we cannot hide behind it. The decision is not about me, I was informed about it by others. It has not been a good period... Regarding the protests near the players' houses, we must be careful. Private life should remain so. I understand the anger and frustration of our fans. You can protest near the PSG offices or after a match at the Parc des Princes, but I can't accept it in someone's home..."
