According to the prestigious talkSPORT, Chelsea is the favorite team to reach an agreement with the French striker of Barcelona, Ousmane Dembele. This would be the first transfer in the era of the club's new owner, Todd Boehly. Dembele's current contract with Barcelona expires at the end of June, which means the footballer could become part of the London Blues at zero cost.
Dembele joined Barcelona in 2017, for around milionë 100 million from the Germans of Borussia Dortmund. The striker has made 150 appearances for the Catalans in 5 seasons with the club. However, his adventure with Barcelona has generally been characterized by frustration and potentially wasted, due to successive injuries. At this point a new contract does not seem to be the desire of either Barcelona or the player himself. For this reason Dembele is considering the options he has on the table.
Chelsea is the perfect destination for Dembele for several reasons. The first is coach Tuchel. Germany has trained Dembele during the time he was active with Borussia Dortmund, and it is publicly known that the pair have a pretty good rapport with each other. Tuchel has high regard for the player, who in his only season for Dortmund scored 10 goals and 21 assists in 49 games.
The German technician commented some time ago on the Frenchman:
"Ousmane is a player who brilliantly combines dribbling, passing and creating spaces at a very high level. This is extraordinary. "
The season we left behind clearly pointed out Chelsea's problems with the final. The Londoners have consistently suffered a lack of goals, as neither Romelu Lukaku nor Kai Havertz have managed to satisfy the expectations of Tuchel and the fans. Having said that, the way is open for Dembele to prove himself and his skills at Stamford Bridge.
