Barcelona is still in talks with Chelsea about Marcos Alonso's card. According to the prestigious 90min, the Catalans are close to finalizing the agreement for the left defender, as the latter has made clear his desire to leave Stamford Bridge.
The Catalan giants have been keeping an eye on Alonso throughout the summer, along with fellow Chelsea defender, Cesar Azpilicueta. However, the latter put an end to speculation about his future, signing a new 2-year contract with Chelsea.
Alonso meanwhile wants to join Barcelona, especially after losing the captain's armband to Chelsea. It is understood that Barcelona and the player have reached an agreement on the personal terms of the contract, and now all that remains to be discussed is the amount that the Spaniards should pay the Londoners.
At this point, Chelsea are interested in raising funds, having just formalized the deal with Brighton for the services of Marc Cucurella. The London Blues will have to pay Brighton a full 55 million pounds for the 24-year-old's card. Cucurella's arrival at Stamford Bridge is another piece of positive news for coach Tuchel, who now has more certainty if Alonso leaves the club.
Meanwhile, the German coach has confirmed that the Spanish player wants a transfer to Barcelona. After the 1-0 win over Everton, in Chelsea's first game of this new season, Tuchel was asked about Alonso's absence from the field. When asked if the defender is about to leave, the German replied:
"Yes, this is the situation. He is trying to leave and we have accepted his wish. So it wouldn't make sense if he was on the field today. In another scenario he would be on the field, but in this situation, it was the right thing to do."
