Phil Foden has signed a new contract with Manchester City. The English midfielder will be part of the "citizens" until 2027. His previous contract expired next year and the City leaders were careful not to complicate the situation with one of their best players.
Foden has scored a total of 52 goals in 182 games with the English team, a figure that is quite high considering that his primary role is not that of an attacker. The player himself was quite happy about the renewal, once again expressing his loyalty to City. Foden commented:
"It is difficult to describe in words how happy I am about signing this contract. It's a dream come true. I've been a City fan all my life. I trained here for many years and was also a ball boy. I love this club so much, and knowing that I will be part of it until 2027 is a fantastic feeling."
Foden has won a total of 11 trophies with Manchester City, including 4 Premier League trophies, 4 EFL Cups and the FA Cup. The English midfielder has also been awarded the best player of the season in the Premier League.
Foden said that Pep Guardiola has a lot of credit for his rapid development in recent years. He praised the Spanish technician and said:
"I have improved a lot in the last few years and a lot of that is thanks to Pep and his staff, who guide me every day in training. Working with them gives me even more chances to improve and become the best player I can be."
