The talented Manchester City midfielder, Bernardo Sliva, has made a statement that may have upset a large part of the English club's fans. The Portuguese has accepted the desire to once again join his former club, Benfica. Silva has said he misses his hometown and wants to be closer to the family and football club where he grew up.
Last summer the midfielder was rumored for a possible departure from Etihad, but that did not happen. He not only stayed in Manchester, but consolidated his positions as one of the most important players in Pep Guardiola's team. However, this has not stopped Bernardo Silva from talking about future plans. He told Channel 11:
"I miss Portugal very much. If I had the opportunity to come back after 1 or 2 years there I would do it. "Not only because I want to play for Benfica again, but also because I miss my family and living in Portugal."
Silva has previously acknowledged his special connection to the club. The footballer said:
"Benfica is an important part of my life. I grew up watching Benfica matches with my dad and friends. In addition, I played with this team from the age of 12 to 19, so more or less half of my life. When I left I was almost 20 years old and it was a difficult decision to make. "But it turned out that moving to Monaco was the right thing to do."
Pep Guardiola is not the coach who keeps players without their desire at the club, and if the Portuguese finally decides to leave Manchester City, we will most likely see a return of the midfielder to Benfica.
