Chelsea's new leaders have sacked manager Thomas Tuchel, 100 days after taking ownership of the club. The former technician of Borussia Dortmund and Paris St-Germain thus leaves Stamford Bridge after winning 3 trophies in 20 months. the president of the blues, Todd Boehley, has temporarily placed Tuchel's support staff in charge of the team until the club determines Tuchel's successor.
According to BBC Sport sources, the decision to sack Tuchel was made before the surprise loss to Dinamo Zagreb. English media believe the club will put a manager in charge soon and the main favorites are Brighton's Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino, former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, as well as Leicester City's Brendan Rodgers. The aim of the managers is to put a long-term coach at the head of the team, who shares the same vision and ideas with the new owners of the club.
At the moment, Chelsea is in sixth place in the Premier League standings, after 3 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. The Blues spent a whopping £255 million in the summer transfer window, bringing in 8 new players. Sources close to the team revealed that Tuchel had lost the confidence of some of the Chelsea players, as well as members of the management board. The German was also fined twice this season for his conduct on the pitch.
