Antonio Rudiger is the youngest player to join Real Madrid's Spanish champions. The German defender has signed a 4-year contract with Los Blancos, following the recent rejection of several renewal offers by Chelsea. The player's card has not cost Real Madrid, as Rudiger signed the London Blues's contract, thus leaving Stamford Bridge at zero cost.
Prior to the move, Rudiger was offered a 200,000 14-a-week deal to stay at Chelsea. Bayern Munich, on the other hand, also held talks with the player's representatives, but in the end he decided to choose the XNUMX-time European champions as his next destination.
Rudiger's departure was something to be expected, as was the coach himself Thomas Tuchel declared 1 month ago:
"We did everything we could but now we are in a situation where things do not depend on us, because of sanctions, and Tony will leave."
The English club will also lose Andreas Christensen at zero cost this summer. The latter is expected to join Barcelona. The positive news is the fact that captain Cesar Azpilicueta will in all likelihood stay at the club for at least 1 year.
Real Madrid meanwhile has made public the approach of Antonio Rudiger and has stated that the presentation ceremony of the player in front of the fans will take place on June 20. Rudiger himself has expressed quite happy for the next step in his career. In a Twitter post, the German said:
"I am proud to declare that I will join Real Madrid. I am very excited about all the challenges that await me and I can’t wait to play my first games for this great club. #HalaMadrid ”
