Antonio Conte signed a 1-and-a-half year contract with Tottenham, but his last interview for Sky Sports Italy cast strong doubts that the Italian could leave the London club sooner. During the interview, the technician questioned the Tottenham's management's ambition to move forward, saying the team was weakened in the January transfer window by board decisions.
The Londoners signed Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, both Juventus players. But Conte has apparently expected greater investment from club executives. According to reports in England, the latter are surprised by the statements of the Italian, but all those who have followed Conte's career know that this is not a new thing for him.
There have been several instances where Antonio has chosen to leave the leadership of a team, when he has noticed that his managers are not in line with him, or do not have the same ambitions. In 2014 Antonio Conte left the management of Juventus just 1 day after the start of pre-season matches. He was not convinced of the club's plans and saw no opportunity for improvement. Also, the coach was disappointed by the fact that the board failed to bring in Juan Cuadradon from Fiorentina. The latter would join the club after Contes's departure as coach.
The Italian also expressed dissatisfaction with Inter, when he was in charge of the Zika team. He said in April:
"I have influence only in the present. The club's programs have changed and I need clarity at the end of the season. We need a clear project because the fans deserve it. "
Given Tottenham's difficult situation as well as the atypical character of the Italian coach, it is no surprise that Conte is leaving the English club before the end of his contract.
