The coach of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, has stated that he will continue to show emotion from the coach's bench, despite the suspension for 1 game. The Spanish technician will not be present on the bench in Arsenal's challenge against Aston Villa, because he received his third yellow card for the season in Arsenal's victory over Luton. In this challenge, the Londoners scored in the last seconds of the meeting, thus taking the 3 points, and Arteta could not contain his emotions.
The Arsenal coach commented on the incident:
"I don't know how to stop myself. It was an emotional moment, and when everyone's jumping out of their seats you lose a little bit of sense of where you're supposed to be. Unfortunately now I can't be on the bench but it's a decision that they (the referees) take with strict reference to the rules."
However, despite the expression of understanding towards the referees, Arteta has said that he will not limit himself to show emotions, as he does not see it as wrong. The Spaniard added:
"I want to be with my players as we work hard every day to achieve what we want, which is to win games and when you get these moments in sport you have to be able to do that (celebrate). I understand there are certain rules and restrictions and you have to respect the fact that you're on the opposing pitch, but if I was given the chance I'd be out there celebrating."
Coach Arteta was in the limelight and behind comments following Newcastle's controversial win over Arsenal a few weeks ago. Newcastle scored after a highly contested goal and Arteta described the VAR referees' decisions as shameful.
