The defender of France and Manchester United, Raphael Varane, has said that the situation between Cristiano Ronaldo and the club is affecting other players. In a television interview, CR7 said that he feels betrayed by the club, does not respect coach Erik ten Hag, and is being pressured to leave United. Meanwhile, the club said that it will react with an official statement, after clarifying all the facts.
Varane meanwhile expressed his comment on the situation. The defender told Europe1:
"Of course it affects us as well. We are following what is happening and what is being said. We tried to calm the situation in our own way, and not get too involved in it. What happens in the big clubs gets a lot of attention in the media. When it comes to a star like Ronaldo, even more so, that's why we try to keep our distance..."
Varane added:
"What I want is the best for the team, so whatever happens in the end, we as players will accept it and continue to give our best."
Ronaldo refused to come on as a last-minute substitute against Tottenham Hotspur on 19 October, and club officials were clear in their support for manager Ten Hag in the episode. Then, the Portuguese striker was not included in the next challenge against Chelsea.
CR7's last interview has divided "Red Devils" fans into 2 groups, some support the Portuguese in his statements, while others have considered Ronaldo's comments unacceptable. However, the forward is likely to leave Manchester United in January after the World Cup, although it is not yet known what his next destination could be.
