Erik ten Hag has said that the new adventure at the helm of Manchester United does not pose a risk to his reputation as a coach. The Dutchman appeared quite confident in his first interview as the Red Devils coach, while also revealing some details about the players and the changes the team could undergo next season. Ten Hag declared:
"I do not see the United bench as a danger. "I think this club has a great history, and now we have to create the future."
The former Ajax coach once again clarified the situation of Cristiano Ronaldo at the club. The latter has been rumored several times for a possible departure, but it looks like he will stay at Old Trafford this season as well. Ten Hag said he expects goals from the Portuguese, implying that CR7 will not leave. Regarding the other players the coach decided to comment in general, without giving much detail. Asked about the role of Harry Maguire as team captain, the Dutchman said:
"Next season is something else, but he did a pretty good job this year. "I think he is a fantastic player who has achieved a lot and I like working with him."
The return of United to the elite of European football will be an undoubtedly difficult mission, but the new coach of the "Red Devils" has accepted the challenge with positivity:
"The plan is big and the time is short. I really want to work with these players. Last season the team closed in second place, which means that the potential is great. "I think if we improve, if we work together, we can get more than the result we got this season."
