Nottingham Forest have officially introduced Nuno Espirito Santo as the club's new manager, following the sacking of Steve Cooper. The latter was sacked after 2 years in charge of the club, and the reason was Nottingham Forest's poor performances this season. The club has been defeated 5 times in the last 6 matches in the Premier League, and has won only 1 time in the last 13 matches. Currently, Nottingham Forest hold 17th place in the overall standings, and the risk of relegation is real.
Nuno Espirito Santo meanwhile has signed for 2 and a half years with Nottingham Forest, and it seems that the objective for this season is survival. Nuno spent 4 years as manager at Wolverhampton, where he successfully took the club from the Championship to the Premier League, where Wolves finished seventh for two consecutive seasons. The club also managed to reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
Nuno then left Wolves to take charge of Tottenham, but the Portuguese's adventure in London did not go well. The technician was fired within the first 4 months under the direction of spurs, after a negative streak of 5 defeats in 7 meetings. Nuno then joined Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2022. The Portuguese helped the Arab club win the league title but was sacked in the new season after a string of poor results.
Nottingham Forest president Evangelos Marinakis and the club's other executives have spent a relatively large amount of money on new players over the past few months. This means that Nuno will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of players and tactics, to see what is the best strategy for his new team.
The next game for Forest is against Manchester United at home on December 30.
