The leaders of Manchester United may let Cristiano Ronaldo leave this summer market, based on the rather problematic situation the club is facing. Despite the words of coach Erik ten Hag, that the Portuguese is not for sale, other important figures in the hierarchy of the "Red Devils" think differently.
Certain sources near the club state that CR7 has a negative presence in the dressing room, does not communicate much with his teammates, and above all, has openly expressed his desire to leave. The striker has a year left on his current contract, but shock defeats to Brighton and Brentford appear to have reignited the debate over the bomber's role at Old Trafford.
Other voices close to the club have stated to the BBC that there is a feeling that Ronaldo's departure would bring about a reduction in tensions in the dressing room, and eventually better performances. Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville commented on the CR7 situation for Sky Sports. He said:
"An important decision must be made for Ronaldo. He is clearly not happy. The problem is if they lose him, there's nothing left in the field goal scoring department. I think if he leaves and they don't bring in other players, United could finish the season in the bottom half of the table."
Last season, Ronaldo was United's top scorer, and third in the Premier League. However, the club failed to qualify for the Champions League, finishing the championship in 6th place.
If Ronaldo leaves, the management board of the "Red Devils" will face a difficult mission, as the approach of new players has failed during the last weeks of the market. The main reason was the fact that United will not play in the Champions League this season.
