Chelsea could be preparing an ambitious bid for Manchester United captain Harry Maguire's card. The London Blues are looking for defensive reinforcements, and the main option at the moment is Leicester City's Wesley Fofana. But if that lead fails, the London Blues are seriously considering a move for Maguire.
Meanwhile, Fofana has long been the main target of Thomas Tuchel, but Chelsea has faced successive rejections from the "foxes" in an attempt to secure an agreement. The Londoners have so far made 2 official offers which have been rejected, while sources close to the English media have revealed that a third offer of more than 70 million pounds has also not been considered by Leicester City.
The player himself is looking to join Tuchel's squad, and has been left out of the squad for the last 2 games, as well as training with the U23s as a form of punishment after failing to turn up for a routine training session.
If the Fofana scenario does not materialize, Chelsea will make an offer for Maguire, based on the player's difficult situation at Old Trafford. Maguire was left on the bench by coach Ten Hag in Manchester United's win over Liverpool. The Dutch technician chose to activate Rafael Varane in defense along with Lisandro Martinez. Sources close to United suggest that Maguire is still in Erik ten Hag's plans, but the defender is no longer seen as an irreplaceable figure at United.
In parallel with the defensive reinforcements, Thomas Tuchel seeks to bring new options to the attacking department as well. The most curvy names of late are Barcelona's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Everton's Anthony Gordon. However, there is still no official offer from Chelsea for the players.
