Chelsea have formalized the approach of French striker Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig. The London Blues will pay the German club 52 million euros for the card of the player, who is expected to become an important point of attack at Chelsea. Nkunku scored 16 goals in 25 games with Leipzig in the Bundesliga last season. The player has also been activated in 10 appearances with the French national team. Nkunku was very happy about his new adventure in England:
"I am very happy to join Chelsea. A great effort was made for me to come to the club. I am very excited about this challenge and I will be proud to wear the Chelsea shirt. I played in Ligue 1 and in the Bundesliga, and now I will play in the Premier League, one of the strongest championships in the world. I'm looking forward to meeting my new manager and team-mates, and showing the Chelsea fans what I can do on the pitch."
We recall that Nkunku has won the French championship 3 times with PSG, before joining Leipzig in 2019. The striker quickly turned into a superstar in the Bundesliga, where he was also announced as the player of the season for the 2021-2022 season, where he scored 20 goals and also recorded 15 assists.
Before leaving, Nkunku presented Leipzig with the German Cup trophy after scoring in this year's final. Despite his debut with France, unfortunately the player could not be part of the team in the World Cup. This is due to an injury.
The striker is an added value for Chelsea, who have long been in search of a player with the Frenchman's qualities. It remains to be seen how Nkunku will fit into coach Mauricio Pochettino's playing style.
