Barcelona's Spaniards are open to potential offers for American defender Sergino Dest. The Catalans can give up the services of the player, as early as the January transfer window, as they seek to raise funds, to reinforce the attack. To do this, Barcelona is already ready to sacrifice players who could previously be considered "untouchable" in the Blaugrana camp.
Dest, 21, is one of them, and ESPN sources suggest that Bayern Munich is one of the clubs interested in the defender. Barça signed with Dest from Ajax, for the figure of 20 million euros in 2020, beating Bayern, which was also looking for the player. The German club has remained in contact with Dest since then, and asked for a loan move earlier this year, with the option to buy the defender's card next summer, for around 25 million euros.
Meanwhile, Barça this season signed with 38-year-old Dani Alves, increasing the competition in the right wing of the defense. ESPN also revealed, that the Catalan club wants to sign with Cesar Azpilicueta, when his contract with Chelsea expires in 2022. This means that the Spanish team will not be left without options, even if it decides to sell Dest's card in January.
Barça football director Matthew Alemany confirmed on Tuesday that there should be departures before signing next month, with Manchester City striker Ferran Torres, a transfer that has already become official. The Spanish club is operating with a spending budget of € 97 million this season. This means that according to the regulation of La Liga, Barcelona will be allowed to spend only 25% of any savings they make in the near future, a small figure for a club that claims to compete with the best in Europe.
