Arsenal and Tottenham look set to compete in the summer transfer window for the services of Leicester City midfielder James Maddison. The "Foxes" can give up their player to invest in other departments where the team needs more. But despite this, Leicester is thought to be asking for plot 60 million for the Englishman's services.
Both Spurs and Arsenal are old admirers of Maddison, who is having the best season of his career with Leicester City. Although the player is not a typical striker, but a midfielder with attacking features, he has scored a full 13 goals. He also has a little more than 2 years active contract with Leicester City.
Tottenham have recently joined the race for Maddison, as coach Conte feels the need to have a "number 10" in his squad. The Italian technician is a fan of the 25-year-old and wants to add to the options available to him in terms of attack. Especially after the departures of Dele Alli, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso. Alli's card now belongs to Everton while Ndombele and Lo Celso are playing on loan, respectively to Lyon and Villarreal.
Anyway, Antonio Conte's main target in the market is a new center-back. With that in mind, it could be quite difficult for the Spurs to make Maddison's transfer to Wembley possible. The solution would be the final sale of Ndombele or Lo Celso card, to provide the necessary funds for the Leicester midfielder.
Maddison for his part has not yet expressed which team he prefers as the next destination. However, the player wants to be part of the English national team at this year’s World Cup. To achieve this goal, the midfielder must play football on a more elite team than Leicester City.
