Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder has given a clear message regarding the future of striker Antony. According to Schreuder, the Brazilian will stay with the Dutch, despite the interest of a number of European clubs for his card. Antony has recently been linked with a reunion with his old coach, Erik ten Hag, at Manchester United.
However, the agreement has failed to materialize. Asked by ESPN Netherlands, Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder commented on Antony's situation saying:
"I think he (Antony) will stay. Of course, we have sold a lot of players recently. This has not happened in recent years. We also bought players. But we've sold so many players that I don't think anyone wants to leave."
According to unofficial sources, the statement has irritated Antony and his agent Junior Pedroso, who appear to both be in favor of a move to Manchester United.
Schreuder was also asked if Ajax players have been given a deadline to decide whether or not they want to leave in the summer transfer window. In this regard, the coach said:
"No, we have not discussed this. But we talk to each other every day. I don't think anyone will leave. If we sell another key player this season it would not be good for us."
Meanwhile, United has agreed with Ajax for the transfer of Lisandro Martinez. The card of the latter will cost the "Red Devils" 57.4 million euros, but the figure can go up to 67.4 million after adding some bonuses. Meanwhile, Ten Hag has strengthened the team with the arrivals of Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen. Meanwhile, United remains the favorite team to sign the Dutch star of Barcelona, Frenkie de Jong.
