Manchester United players are of the idea that Erik ten Hag will no longer be at the head of the bench next season. The news was announced by the English media as the players of the "Red Devils" have noticed a change in the behavior of the Dutch technician. It came after Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of the club's owners, refused to confirm that the Ten Hag will be at Old Trafford next season.
The coach himself expressed his confidence about his future, while confirming that there is no doubt that he will be part of United in the new season. Erik ten Hag said:
"I have no doubts. I'm sure we're in the right direction and we'll go where we want to go."
However, it seems that the club's board of directors has already made a different decision. The Dutchman is expected to be replaced by Graham Potter, as the latter had a meeting with Jim Ratcliffe. The former Chelsea manager turned down an offer to take charge of Ajax last week, and the Englishman is thought to be waiting for his confirmation as Manchester United manager from next season. Potter has also rejected the offer of Lyon in France, as well as that of the Swedish national team. Sources close to the Englishman have also confirmed his desire to return to the Premier League.
The theory of Potter's return is also supported by the fact that the manager worked alongside Dan Ashworth, United's new sporting director, during Potter's time in charge at Brighton. Meanwhile, Gareth Southgate and Roberto De Zerbi are still on the table as potential names for the manager's job. However, Graham Potter looks closer to the Old Trafford bench at the moment.
