The forward of Liverpool and the Portuguese national team, Diogo Jota, will miss the World Cup in Qatar due to an injury. The news has been confirmed by the coach Jurgen Klopp himself, and according to the German, the player has received a very serious injury to the pulp, during the challenge against Manchester City in the championship.
The 25-year-old was carried off the pitch in the final moments of the match as Liverpool won 1-0 against the reigning Premier League champions. Recently, Klopp commented on the Portuguese's injury to the media:
"It is a very serious injury to the pulp muscle. Sad news for the boy, us and Portugal. Surprisingly he is okay. He is a very smart guy. I think he realized the extent of the injury when we took him off the field. After the game we talked to each other and he explained to me what happened. I think Jota knew it was a serious injury and it would have an impact on his World Cup dreams."
The attacker himself shared the sad news with his fans in a post on social networks. In a Twitter status, Jota commented:
“After a pretty good night, mine closed in the worst way. In the last minute of the meeting, one of the good dreams came to an end. I will support from abroad, the club and the national team, and I will fight to get back as soon as possible."
Jota missed the start of the season with a similar muscle problem, before returning to action in the Reds' 3-3 draw with Everton. Jota also played in the 4-0 victory of Portugal against the Czech Republic, where he managed to score 1 goal. However, it seems that the talented striker already has a long road to recovery.
