Paul Pogba has been temporarily suspended from football for breaking several anti-doping rules. The news has been officially confirmed by the Italian anti-doping tribunal, which is also the authority that has the power to suspend athletes. Pogba underwent a test after Juventus' 3-0 win over Udinese, and the test results showed a higher-than-usual level of testosterone.
Juventus also reacted with an official statement about the event. The Italian club commented:
"Juventus informs that the player Paul Pogba has received a suspension from the national anti-doping tribunal, after receiving the results of the analyzes carried out on August 20, 2023. The club has the right to evaluate the decision."
The Italian authorities said that testosterone metabolites were found in Pogba's metabolism, which prove that the hormone was artificially obtained from abroad. Testosterone is a hormone that has a significant effect on athletes, increasing levels of endurance and physical strength.
We remember that Pogba returned to Juventus in the summer of last year, signing a new contract for the next 4 years. At the time, the player was a free agent, as his contract with Manchester United expired, and the parties decided not to renew. However, Pogba's new adventure with the "old lady" has proved quite difficult.
Injury problems have kept the Frenchman out of action for most of his time in Turin. Meanwhile, we remember that Pogba also missed the World Cup in Qatar due to an injury. Last season, the midfielder was activated for only 162 minutes with Juventus.
Meanwhile, regarding the suspension due to doping, the Frenchman has 3 days to send to the Italian authorities an analysis that can prove his innocence.
