The coach of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, has said that his team must strengthen in this market, if they will compete for the title of champion in the Premier League. The Londoners were beaten by Manchester City last season despite topping the table for most of the season. The team has been linked with the possible transfer of Declan Rice from West Ham, while Chelsea's Kai Havertz is very close to officialisation.
Meanwhile, Arteta commented:
"Next season will be the strongest championship in the history of the Premier League. Why? Because he was like that since last year. I've been here (in England) for 22 years and I've never seen this level of competition. So much quality, so much organization, so many resources, so many good coaches. This is the level and to win the Premier League you have to be the best. That's why we have to get stronger."
The Arsenal coach added:
"Even to this day, the fact that we could not win the Premier League after 10 months of battle with City still hurts me. We had 3 or 4 injuries to important players and from that moment things got complicated. When we had the full team we were consistent. Once the problems came, then we couldn't do enough. Our opponents were the best team in the world, with the best coach in the world. We had no choice but to accept defeat and shake hands with the champions."
According to the English media, Mikel Arteta is lobbying hard at Arsenal's board, for the approach of quality players. The Spanish technician is of the belief that the club still needs reinforcements in some important departments of the field such as the midfield. For this reason, Arteta is insisting that Arsenal be as aggressive and fast as possible in fulfilling their objectives in the market.
