Betting companies quote Real Madrid as the fifth team in a row to win the Champions League this year. However, this fact did not surprise coach Carlo Ancelotti at all, who said that he is not surprised by the betting coefficients. Bayern Munich, Paris St-Germain, Manchester City and Liverpool are all teams that are considered more favorites than Madrid this season, in the prestigious competition.
Ancelotti meanwhile reminded the sports opinion that Real Madrid was not the favorite even last season, but managed to raise the trophy. The Italian commented:
"If it means something, I think it's a good sign. We don't mind being considered the underdog, in fact if anything has happened to the team it's that we've improved."
This summer market, Real Madrid brought two very talented players to the squad, Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco, and German center back Antonio Rudiger. Meanwhile, the veteran Marcelo left the team after an extraordinary adventure, where he won everything with the galacticos. The latter have won the first 4 challenges of this new season in La Liga and lead the championship.
Coach Ancelotti also commented on Group F, where Real will play against Celtic, RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk. The Italian appreciated the quality of the opponents, saying that the group can never be considered easy:
"It is not an easy group at all. Celtic, for starters, are a strong team, and we also have to respect RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk. There may be surprises in the group. Think about what happened last year against Shakhtar. Anything can happen."
However, the Madrid players appeared confident in the first group game, as they won 3-0 against Celtic in a subtle transfer.
