England will face Denmark in the semi-finals of Euro 2020, and although the "3 Lions" come to this meeting as favorites, coach Southgate knows quite well the danger posed by the Danes. The English bench number 1 has described as "a powerful wave of emotions" what his players will face at Wembley on Wednesday.
Since the incident occurred with Christian Eriksen, Denmark is seen as even more motivated to repeat the success of 1992 in Europe. This would be the perfect gift for their captain, who may not be present on the green field. Southgate knows full well that this is a pretty strong psychological stimulus. The English coach said:
"We all talk about things we went through, but what the Danish team went through that day, to see the team captain in that condition… What happened was powerful. "It's all a big wave of emotion, which will come strongly to Wembley."
However, Southgate was quick to point out his team:
"I know my players are in their best shape when they are calm. It is key to our preparation to divert attention from the noise of past matches.
The players have the right mentality to move on. They like this challenge. Of course, in such competitions the match can take an unexpected turn. But they (the players) will be prepared for that. "We have players who have won trophies, and they know what they need."
England will thus seek to break the curse of elimination in the semi-finals, going to the end Euro 2020, and bringing football home.
