Thomas Tuchel will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season. The news was announced by the club itself, which announced that the decision was made in agreement with both parties. Tuchel replaced Julian Nagelsmann in March last year, while his current deal with Bayern was valid until 2025. However, poor results in recent weeks have led the club's management to cut ties with the German coach.
Bayern Munich is already 8 points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga standings. The Bavarians were defeated 3-0 by Leverkusen, in a very important direct challenge for the fate of the championship title. In addition, Tuchel's team was also defeated by Lazio in the Champions League, with a minimum score of 1-0.
Following the news of Tuchel's departure at the end of the season, Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said:
"Our goal is to create a sports alliance with a new coach for the 2024-2025 season. Until that moment, all individuals at the club will be challenged to work and achieve the maximum possible in the Champions League and Bundesliga."
Dreesen also stated that he is convinced that despite the defeat in the first challenge against Lazio in the Champions League, Bayern will advance to the next stage with the help of the home fans at the Allianz Arena.
Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel also reacted to the news of his departure. The German technician said:
"We will leave at the end of the season. Until then, my coaching team and I will continue to do everything we can to ensure maximum success."
At the moment, it is still not clear who will be Thomas Tuchel's replacement at the head of the Bayern Munich bench next season.
