Bayer Leverkusen looks set to benefit from a large financial sum if it decides to sell the services of the talented Florian Wirtz. This is because now there seems to be a fierce competition between several European clubs for the German's card. Liverpool and Manchester City in England want to bring the player to the Premier League, while Bayern Munich have also long expressed an interest in the Leverkusen talent. But what will Wirtz's next destination be and when might the transfer happen?
The German is expected to be part of Bayer Leverkusen in the next season as well. The news was announced by his father and at the same time his agent, Hans-Joachim, for Sky Sport. Hans said to the sports media:
"At the moment, all things are going in the direction where Florian will continue to play for Leverkusen and next season."
That means a transfer will most likely be delayed until 2025, and from what sources close to the player say, Bayern Munich remains the preferred destination. This is because Wirtz likes to play in the Bundesliga, at least for a few seasons. However, Liverpool and Manchester City have no intention of giving up, as both English teams remain huge admirers of the player.
Manchester City's agents were present at Leverkusen's win over Hoffenheim a few weeks ago to keep a close eye on Florian Wirtz, while it is already known that the "citizens" have been monitoring the player since last year.
Arsenal, Newcastle and Barcelona have also been linked with the Bayer Leverkusen talent. However, it seems that City, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are the teams leading the race at the moment. The forward has the chance to win the Bundesliga title this season as Leverkusen continue to top the overall table in Germany.
