Unai Emery has given his first interview as the new coach of Aston Villa, on the eve of the latter's match with Manchester United in the championship. The Spanish technician expressed himself quite happy about the new adventure, as he stated that his dream and main priority is to win a trophy with the English club. We remind you that this is not the first time that Emery is in charge of a team in the Premier League. The 51-year-old was in charge of Arsenal during the 2018-2019 season. The coach told the media:
"My dream is to win a trophy with Aston Villa. It's my personal challenge at first. The second dream is to play in Europe."
Emery has proven himself several times in the European arena, as he led Sevilla to 3 Europa League success, lifting the trophy in the 2013-2014, 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons. After leaving Arsenal, the technician joined Villarreal where he managed to win the Europa League again. Emery added:
"I played against many teams in the world. For me to face English teams is a big challenge. The Premier League is probably the number 1 championship in the world. Every team gave us an experience when I was managing Arsenal... I'm happy to be here. I decided to come here because it is a big project, and our ambition will go together, step by step. I want to improve the team, help with my experiences."
However, Emery said that the team should only think about the next game, which will be against United at home. The technician said:
"We have to think only about the next game as we are not in a good position in the standings. Each challenge will give us a lot of information about the players. I want to test them individually and in groups. The next match is my only focus."
