Paris-Saint Germain are monitoring Marcus Rashford as a possible replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to leave at the end of the season. The French giants are preparing an £80million bid in the hope of persuading United to let go of the England striker. However, the transfer will be quite difficult to achieve, considering several factors.
Initially, Rashford signed a new contract with Manchester United last summer. According to this contract, the attacker will be part of the "Red Devils" until 2027. Currently, Rashford benefits from about 350 thousand pounds per week. Moreover, the player is considered one of the important figures at Old Trafford.
However, the leaders of Paris-Saint Germain have their reasons to believe that the operation can be carried out successfully. One of them is Rashford's form this season. The striker has only scored 7 goals in the Premier League and has also not contributed to other scoring opportunities for his teammates. In addition, Rashford has had trouble off the field, as a few weeks ago he was caught drinking alcohol in a night club. This caused problems between him and manager Ten Hag, and led to the forward being ruled out of a training session as well as missing out on the FA Cup tie against Newport.
Meanwhile, speculations about his departure at the end of the season have been present, since before PSG's interest in the Englishman. This started from the purchase of 25% of the shares of Manchester United, by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and plans for major changes in the structure of the club. The Paris club also have the financial advantage, as they can offer Rashford a weekly wage of more than £500 a week. This may personally tempt the attacker to push through the transfer.
