The coach of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, has expressed that it is very important for clubs to take care of their fans, after Arsenal's rejection of the idea of the European Super League. The Super League is a new sporting project that initially included 12 clubs when it was introduced in 2021, including Arsenal. However, the Super League proposal caused a lot of negative reactions from the fans, UEFA and the European clubs themselves, which led to the collapse of the idea within a few days.
However, the European Court of Justice ruled two days ago that no authority can stop clubs from joining another competition, which brought A22's proposal for the Super League back to the stage. Real Madrid and Barcelona, so far, are the only clubs that are officially in favor of the idea of the new competition. Meanwhile, the English clubs, including Arsenal, have stated that their position regarding this matter has not changed, despite the latest decision.
Coach Arteta said:
"Football fans and the passion they bring to the game is why the game belongs to them. Their opinion is very important, and we should take care of them. We remain in the same position, we really like playing in the Champions League and we will continue to do the same."
Meanwhile, after the court decision, an interesting reaction came from the president of Naples, Aurelio De Laurentiis. The latter seems to have welcomed the idea of a new competition. De Laurentiis commented:
"Today football is administered by old people, but above all they are without vision. Those who have governed us until today as a monopoly have not understood that football is a business and needs increasing income. Now we have to think seriously…”
