Jeremie Frimpong is being targeted by two rival Manchester clubs. City and United are monitoring the Bayer Leverkusen star, who has impressed with his performances this season and will in all likelihood lift the Bundesliga trophy in a matter of weeks. Frimpong has a release clause worth £35 million, while the player's current deal with the German club runs until 2028. The value offered for his card is expected to be much higher than that predicted in clause, considering the financial struggle that clubs will be involved in to secure Frimpong.
Representatives of Manchester United have been present in Germany to closely follow the performances of Frimpong. Manchester City meanwhile see the defender as the long-term replacement for Kyle Walker. The player can play from both sides and would be a perfect alternative in Pep Guardiola's team. Especially considering the fact that the Dutchman has been successfully activated in the midfield.
Frimpong was active for 2 seasons with Celtic, before moving to the Bundesliga, to Bayer Leverkusen. The player also has good features in the offensive department, as he has scored important goals for his team this season.
City currently have the advantage over rivals United to secure Frimpong's services, given the level of the club and the fact that City can offer the defender Champions League football. Manchester United on the other hand have to fight with Tottenham and Aston Villa to secure a place in the top 4 of the Premier League. However, coach Ten Hag's men are 11 points adrift of Aston Villa, after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Brentford in their last outing.
