Niko Kovac has emerged as one of the surprise names that could replace Jurgen Klopp at the head of Liverpool's bench. Klopp has already announced that he will leave at the end of the season, and many alternatives have been circulated in the media regarding his replacement at Anfield.
The former technician of Bayern Munich and Monaco is now free, after being separated from the leadership of Wolfsburg some time ago. Liverpool have yet to officially contact any of the potential names to replace Klopp, as the club's leaders are still in the information-gathering phase to analyze the options available to them.
At the moment, the most popular name is that of Ruben Amorim, the current coach of Sporting Lisbon. However, despite the numerous news about him, the Portuguese has announced that he has not discussed anything with Liverpool at the moment, and there is no agreement between the parties.
Meanwhile, as far as Kovac is concerned, it is known that representatives of the coach are in London to discuss with various clubs of the Premier League, which are looking for a new coach this summer market.
Kovac won the German Cup with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018, before winning the cup and championship again with Bayern Munich a year later. Kovac was then put in charge of Monaco in France for two seasons, from 2020 to 2022. However, his adventure at Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga did not go well and Kovac left the club in March.
It remains to be seen whether the Croatian coach will be given the opportunity to manage a team in the Premier League for the first time. Apart from Liverpool, other clubs in the Premier League are also considering Kovac as a candidate for their bench.
