Barcelona is already in the race to secure the services of Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese has impressed this season under the guidance of Sporting, and has become the target of many European clubs. This is also the reason why the leaders of Barcelona have already jumped into the race to convince the technician to come to the head of the bench at Camp Nou.
Xavi Hernandez has already announced that he will leave at the end of the season, and the Spanish club are looking for a long-term replacement. The next Balugrana coach will have the difficult task of rebuilding the club at the highest levels after a series of disappointing seasons, especially in the European arena. Amorim is seen as the perfect replacement for Xavi, as the Portuguese has proven that he knows how to manage a club that is looking to get back on its feet.
However, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also looking for a new manager, and Amorim is on the list of the European giants. Initially, both Liverpool and Bayern had targeted Xabi Alonso as their main target for the bench. However, the latter confirmed that he will stay at least for 1 more season at Bayer Leverkusen. This has led to even greater attention towards Ruben Amorim.
Barcelona must be quick if they want to secure the signature of the Sporting coach, as the list of clubs looking for the Portuguese appears to be growing. Currently, the coach has a high clause for breaking the contract with Sporting, which is estimated at around 13 million euros. This is one of the reasons why an agreement has not yet been reached between Amorim and Barcelona, or another club. However, in all likelihood, Ruben will leave Sporting Lisbon at the end of the season.
