Tottenham are stepping up their efforts to sign Brentford captain Nathan Collins. The move is expected to be complicated as Collins is under contract until 2029 with his current club, who are determined to keep hold of key players after a difficult summer.
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank, who has moved from Brentford, has expressed his desire to work with Collins again. The latter is attracting the attention of Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United, but Spurs appear to be making the most of their efforts to bring him to north London.
Manchester United are also in the running for Collins, but their financial situation would require them to sell players to make a serious bid, which gives Tottenham an advantage. On the other hand, Liverpool have made financial progress by selling players such as Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz, putting them in a stronger position to bolster their defence.
Collins is one of the names on Liverpool's list, but at the moment, Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi has been mentioned as a priority. However, if Brentford can be persuaded to sell, Tottenham are the most likely destination for Collins.
Tottenham are also on the verge of signing Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, and if that deal goes through, it is expected that moves for Collins will intensify. The 24-year-old would provide Spurs with more depth in defence, helping them cope with the added pressure of playing in the Champions League this season.
