Tottenham Hotspur are expressing an interest in activating the option to sign Joao Palhinha on a permanent basis, according to reliable sources. The 30-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant start to his Tottenham career after joining on loan from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
Palhinha has been a key player for Spurs, appearing in eight games in all competitions, and scoring two goals, including a spectacular overhead kick in the 3-0 win over Doncaster in the Carabao Cup.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank is keen for the club to activate their option to buy Palhinha for around £27m. He has expressed his keenness to see the move through and has praised the player's contribution to the team.
After the match, Palhinha expressed his gratitude for the opportunity Frank gave him, stressing that it was an easy decision to come to Tottenham. He also commented on how the coach, who had followed him from afar, had good human qualities and helped create a positive environment in the team.
Palhinha will look to impress again when Tottenham Hotspur face Wolves in north London on Saturday evening.
