The English media have reported that Raheem Sterling is already under the target of Italian giants Juventus. The Chelsea striker is at a delicate point in his career, as he looks set to struggle to find space this season at Stamford Bridge. Sterling was not part of the squad for the game against Manchester City, and this has only further worsened the climate between the player and the club.
The striker is said to have asked the Chelsea management for more clarity on his future through his representatives. Sterling and Chelsea are expected to have a meeting soon to clarify the situation. Juventus, on the other hand, will continue to follow the situation closely. The Italians must first sell players if they want to bring Sterling to Turin. Federico Chiesa is among the names tipped to leave.
Even if Juventus gives up at a certain point in the pursuit of Sterling, it seems that Chelsea is in all likelihood ready to sell the Englishman, at the first moment that an offer that meets the conditions comes. In last week's training sessions, coach Enzo Maresca is also said to have communicated to Sterling that his options to activate this year will be limited.
However, getting rid of the attacker will not be easy. According to reports, Sterling benefits from around 320 pounds per week at Chelsea, a rather high figure that the footballer will not give up easily. Moreover, the player's family is already settled in London, and a transfer to Italy, or to other countries away from the British capital, would not be ideal.
This is also the reason why Sterling is not considering a move to Saudi Arabia, despite interest from Arab clubs.
