Nottingham Forest have appointed Sean Dyche, the former Burnley and Everton manager, as the club's new manager. Dyche, 54, has signed a contract until the summer of 2027, becoming Forest's third different manager this season. He replaces Ange Postecoglou, who lasted just 39 days and was sacked 17 minutes into the 3-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea. Postecoglou has failed to win any of his eight games, drawing two and losing six, since being appointed as replacement for Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked after just three games.
Nottingham Forest are currently 18th in the league table, having won just one of their eight games during a difficult start to the season. Sean Dyche's first match will be a Europa League match at home to Porto on Thursday, before they face Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.
The process to appoint a new manager was led by Edu Gaspar, Forest's global director of football, and George Syrianos, global technical director. A statement from the club highlighted that:
"Sean Dyche is a respected and experienced Premier League manager, bringing a perfect blend of character, tactical knowledge and proven track record to lead the club into its next chapter."
Dyche, who was a Forest youth player, also has a deep understanding of the club's values and pride. Sean Dyche has had a long career as a manager, managing Burnley for nearly a decade and helping them qualify for Europe for the first time since 1967. He also managed Everton, where he struggled with the team and finished bottom of the league. His appointment seems like a logical choice to ensure Nottingham Forest's survival in the Premier League.
