Real Madrid are planning a £25m bid for Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate during the summer transfer window. According to sources, the Spanish club are interested in the 26-year-old, who has just one year left on his Liverpool contract. Real Madrid are willing to test Liverpool's stance on the player.
However, Liverpool are expected to demand £40m to let Konate leave this summer, as they are reluctant to see him leave this summer or next year. If a deal falls through, Madrid are considering bringing Konate to the Bernabeu on a free transfer in 2026, just as they did with Trent Alexander-Arnold.
This comes after previous reports suggested Real Madrid were keen on signing Konate, following Alexander-Arnold's move to Los Blancos. Liverpool have made extending Konate's contract a priority and talks are expected to intensify in the coming weeks, to avoid losing a key player for no financial gain.
O'Rourke, a renowned analyst, explained that Liverpool are very reluctant to lose the defender, who could bring in a lower fee from Madrid. He stressed that Liverpool want to avoid losing a player like they did with Trent, and that Real Madrid have a successful history of signing players on free transfers, expecting Konate to make the most of his opportunities in the transfer market.
