Manchester City striker Raheem Sterling has confirmed the possibility of leaving the "citizens", if coach Guardiola does not give him more minutes of play.
The footballer's contract expires in 2023, and during this season, he has started only 2 matches as a starter in the Premier League. In a recent interview, Sterling has hinted that his childhood dream has been to play outside England. The difficult circumstances of this season, seem to have made the player, seriously consider the possibility of a transfer.
The attacker stated:
"If I had the opportunity to play elsewhere, I would be open. In the moments we talk, football is the most important thing to me. "I always wanted to maybe one day, play somewhere outside England, and see how much I could handle the challenge."
The arrival of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for the sum of 100 million pounds, has made things more difficult for Sterling. The competition for the starting position in attack is already very high, as both players are activated in the same position. Ferran Torres is also another alternative, although the latter is currently damaged.
Sterling added:
"I am not a person complaining. That's why I did not make this issue bigger than I should have been. "I'm just trying to play football and score regularly."
If Sterling regains the right space in Guardiola's squad, the chances of a departure seem low. The footballer joined City in 2015, and has won the Premier League 3 times at the Etihad. He has also held up FA Cup and EFL Cup trophies. The Champions League is still on Sterling's target list, but it remains to be seen if the player will triumph in the European arena with City.
