According to English media, West Ham is in talks with Al-Ittihad for the transfer of N'Golo Kante. The London outfit appear set to bring back the talented Chelsea midfielder to the Premier League, who performed well with the French national team at Euro 2024.
We remember that Kante was previously active in the Premier League with the blues of Chelsea. The Frenchman decided to move to the Arab League last year, and is thought to be happy at Al-Ittihad. However, the player does not rule out a possible return to London. Since Kante proved once again during the European season that he is still able to play at the highest levels, West Ham has decided to follow the situation closely. The London club will have to pay 20 million pounds for the services of the midfielder, an affordable figure for them.
The club's chiefs are desperate to find a defensive midfielder this summer, as the void left by Declan Rice's departure to Arsenal was never filled. The club approached Calvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City but the Englishman failed to live up to his expectations and West Ham decided not to proceed with the final purchase of his card.
Kante looks the perfect signing for the Londoners, with the club's new manager, Julen Lopetegui, said to be a long-time admirer of the Frenchman. Moreover, the player's experience in the Premier League is a big plus. We recall that Kante joined Leicester City from French side Caen in 2015. The midfielder was one of the key players in the club's incredible success, which managed to win the Premier League in 2016. Afterwards, Kante moved to Chelsea, where also had a very successful career winning the Champions League, FA Cup as well as the Europa League. Kante also won the world cup with France in 2018.
If Kante's transfer is finalised, it would be West Ham's fourth signing this season, following Max Kilman, Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham.
