Manchester United leaders are exploring the possibility of a move for Leon Goretzka to Old Trafford. The midfielder is said to be unhappy with his current situation at Bayern Munich. Goretzka has been part of the Bavarian giants since 2018, and has been active a full 230 times with the German club, winning many titles during this period. The midfielder has started as a starter in most of these challenges, but now it seems that Goretzka has lost the role of starter under the direction of coach Vincent Kompany.
This season, the player has played in 9 of Bayern Munich's 16 matches, but in only 1 of these challenges, Goretzka has played for more than 30 minutes. The future looks even more difficult considering the fact that with the return of Joao Palhinha from injury, the midfielder will have even less space to start in Vincent Kompany's team.
This situation is being followed closely by Manchester United who are planning to make an offer for the player in the summer market. Goretzka's contract expires in 2026, and Bayern are said to be keen to let go of the player should the right financial offer be made. Meanwhile, United will have to compete with Union Berlin for the player's card, as the German club are also interested in Leon. The sporting director of Union Berlin said:
"Everyone knows that his situation is not easy. He will think about his future, it's normal. All clubs can imagine Leon Goretzka in their team. We too can imagine him with us.”
However, United remain favorites to secure the services of Leon Goretzka in the summer, as the English side have far more financial options than Union Berlin.
