Manchester United and England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is still open to leaving the club despite renewed talks with coach Ruben Amorim. He is determined to keep his dream of playing in the World Cup alive and wants to return to the national team squad before next summer.
Mainoo has had a difficult season, making just four appearances and starting just one game, the embarrassing Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby. He was one of the stars of Euro 2024 but has fallen out of favour since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as new manager.
His limited participation in matches has left him frustrated and keen on a loan move in January. Despite the club rejecting his request for a loan move in the summer, he has shown that he is willing to fight for a place in the team, but if the situation does not change, he will seek a possible exit.
Amorim has held private talks with Kobbie Mainoo and made it clear that he is part of his plans, but has asked him to work harder to secure a place in the team. Meanwhile, Tuchel has made it clear that he will not invite Mainoo to the team until he gets more minutes on the pitch. This has made Kobbie Mainoo realize that his playing opportunities will be limited if he continues to be on the sidelines of the team.
Mainoo is determined to be on the plane for next summer's finals in the US, Canada and Mexico, and knows that won't happen if he continues to be out of the lineup at United.
