Alexander Isak is demanding £300,000-a-week to sign a new contract with Newcastle, according to sources. Manager Eddie Howe and the club's owners are determined not to lose the in-demand striker this summer, but such a deal would break the club's wage structure.
Newcastle have Isak under contract until June 2028, after signing a six-year deal with the team following his transfer from Real Sociedad for £63m in 2022. If the Magpies manage to keep Isak this summer, they will face a tougher situation next year if he does not sign a contract extension.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is hoping Manchester City will make a bid for Tottenham target Morgan Gibbs-White. Gibbs-White has told Marinakis he will only leave for a certain team, and the owner does not think Spurs fit that category, expressing his anger.
Chelsea believe Nicolas Jackson is worth more than Liverpool's offer for Hugo Ekitike, with a minimum price tag of £70m plus £10m in bonuses for the striker. Jackson has scored 24 goals in two Premier League seasons, but his future is uncertain amid new arrivals at Stamford Bridge.
West Ham have finally received an offer for Callum Wilson, who has finished his contract with Newcastle after five years. Wilson is looking for a new opportunity after leaving and has a close relationship with Hammers owner David Sullivan.
