Liverpool manager Arne Slott has confirmed that striker Diogo Jota will miss the Premier League game against Arsenal this Sunday. Jota suffered a chest injury during last week's win over Chelsea when defender Tosin Adarabioyo fell on him during a tackle.
The Portugal international will also miss Liverpool's UEFA Champions League clash with RB Leipzig on Wednesday and will be sidelined for the Gunners transfer, along with Italian Federico Chiesa. Right-back Conor Bradley's participation is also uncertain. Coach Slot said:
"They feel good, but they won't be ready to play this weekend. Federico can train with us today or tomorrow, but Diogo is certainly out. We'll see if Conor Bradley can join us tomorrow."
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker remains injured with a hamstring injury sustained in the win over Crystal Palace on October 5. He is expected to be sidelined until the next international break in mid-November. Slot also commented on Alisson's situation:
"He is progressing well, as we expected, but this is not a quick recovery, so it is difficult to assess his status. The best way to assess an injury is at the end of the recovery process, and it's not there yet."
Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League table, with a four-point lead over third-placed Arsenal, which Slot described as having been "way ahead" of Liverpool over the past two seasons. The Dutch coach said that at this early stage, it is difficult to determine who will be the main contenders for the title, but Arsenal will be one of them.
