Manchester United have asked Chelsea for at least £65m for Alejandro Garnacho this summer. The Blues failed to sign the Argentine striker in the last transfer window but they remain on the radar and are expected to return after the end of the season. Garnacho, who has also attracted interest from Napoli, is considering a move away from United after failing to secure regular first-team football under Ruben Amorim. Before making a final decision, he will seek assurances from manager Enzo Maresca that he will play a significant role in Chelsea's future plans.
With a large squad and frequent player turnover, Garnacho wants to make sure he is making the right move. Any deal is dependent on Chelsea's determination to meet United's demands, although the Argentine is under contract until 2028 and will not be sold for free. Manchester United's board, including co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, are willing to sell most of the squad if the price is right. The club need to meet financial spending rules and secure funds for new transfers that will be required of Ruben Amorim.
The list of possible departures includes names such as Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro, Rasmus Hojlund, Matthijs de Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Christian Eriksen. Despite this plan for sales, some players are untouchable, including Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Amad Diallo and Patrick Dorgu.
If Chelsea approach the £65m valuation, Garnacho could take on a new challenge in the Premier League, hoping to find more space on the pitch under Maresca. Otherwise, United will continue to look for other buyers to maintain their financial balance and give the manager the opportunity to strengthen the squad with new players in the attacking department.
