English media have recently reported that Chelsea leaders have swooped to secure the services of Brentford ace Ivan Toney. Chelsea are looking for an elite number 9, and the only alternatives at the moment are Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney. The latter has been left out of his team in the last 2 meetings against Crystal Palace and Liverpool, and seems to be close to leaving.
Toney has become a target for the London Blues due to his already proven record in the Premier League. Another advantage of the Englishman, beyond his skills, is the fact that the striker has only 1 year left on his contract with Brentford. This means that the club is inclined to sell the player, not to lose him later at zero cost. Also, the player's salary is relatively low compared to players of the same level.
However, it is learned that Toney has a very satisfactory financial offer from Saudi Arabia, and Chelsea will not have an easy time convincing the 28-year-old.
