Chelsea are very close to the transfer of Moises Caicedo to Stamford Bridge. The player will be another reinforcement in the midfield, following the approach of Romeo Lavia from Southampton for 55 million pounds. Meanwhile, Caicedo's transfer could set a new Premier League record, with Chelsea ready to pay over £110million for the Ecuadorian.
The London Blues are in a fierce competition with Liverpool, as it was the latter who made the first official offer for Caicedo. The Reds were ready to pay £110 million for the player, but the move, which was very close to completion, was stopped as Caicedo prefers to play for Chelsea, and has vetoed it. The midfielder has decided to keep the promise he made to the Blues, since he agreed on personal terms with Chelsea in the last market.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool are in need of reinforcements in the midfield, after numerous departures this summer. The Blues have lost Mason Mount, N'Golo Kanté, Jorginho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mateo Kovaci. Meanwhile, from Liverpool, among the names left are Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Fabinho.
Meanwhile, according to some English media, the leaders of Liverpool are considering giving up the pursuit of Caicedo, taking into account the clear attitude of the player. The midfielder's transfer saga seems to have ruined Chelsea's plans to sign midfielder Tyler Adams from Leeds United. The latter successfully completed his medical with Chelsea, but the London Blues decided at the last minute that all their financial efforts should be focused on Moises Caicedo at this moment. As for Adams, the latter could join Brighton.
Chelsea meanwhile are also looking to sign talented Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. However, the talks for the player are still far from reaching a concrete agreement.
