Arsenal are considering a move for Benjamin Sesko to the Emirates in the January transfer window. Manager Mikel Arteta has admitted the club are in urgent need of a new striker following the long-term injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus. RB Leipzig striker Sesko has been linked with a move to Arsenal, but that move was expected to happen in the summer. However, the club's pressing need for reinforcements in the attacking department has led to Arsenal's focus on a January deal.
According to English media, Arsenal have 2 options at the moment, to pay around 70 million pounds for Sesko's card, or to secure a loan deal, with the right or obligation to buy at the end of the season. Coach Arteta said:
"We need it more now because of the injuries we've had in recent weeks. We have a plan, we look at the team, we think about how we're going to evolve it, we look at the academy players and what we need to change. Either we're very bad at planning, or no one could have predicted that we'd have so many injuries. We've lost two very important players in attack, and we need support there..."
Benjamin Sesko's agent, Elvis Basanovic, has admitted that a January transfer is unlikely to happen unless a good enough financial offer comes in. This is due to the fact that Leipzig are still in the race to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Arsenal are also monitoring Viktor Gyokeres. The Sporting Lisbon Swede is expected to cost around £100m to anyone who wants his services. Manchester United are also monitoring the striker and the race for his signature will be fierce.
