Alexander Isak has put aside talks over his Newcastle future and says he will "most likely" speak to the club about a new contract in the summer. The Swedish striker has three years left on his current deal, but with his rise to the top of the world's top strikers and interest from other clubs, Newcastle are expected to consider an improvement in his terms at the end of the season.
That doesn't mean the club will be able to meet Isak's expectations, or whether the player himself wants to sign a new deal. Much will depend on Newcastle qualifying for the Champions League.
He added:
"This club can achieve great things. I think we have to take it season after season, and this year we have the opportunity to win a trophy, which would be fantastic for everyone. As for my future, it's not something I'm thinking about. During the season, my focus has always been on the job that needs to be done and this is probably the worst time to think about anything else. Now all the attention is on Sunday's game and the hope is to bring the trophy to Newcastle."
Isak, who has scored 22 goals this season, will face Virgil van Dijk at Wembley, but he said:
"I wouldn't say I'm afraid of any player. I have a lot of respect for the opposition and for Van Dijk, as well as for their whole defence. I'm a player who focuses on myself. If I do the right things and play at my best level, I'll help the team. It's not a duel between me and one player - it's Newcastle versus Liverpool. This is a team sport, so it's all about what we do as a team. I'll try to use my qualities to help the team be better."
